In August 2024, the training sessions on Transit 501, the new official mobility app in Belize, developed by TranSapp for the Government of Belize in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), were successfully conducted.
Organized by the UNDP, these training sessions provided a valuable opportunity for public transportation users to learn about the latest innovations in transport and mobility. Authorities, operators, and passengers all benefited from these sessions, strengthening a network of knowledge and information exchange among the various stakeholders.
The training sessions consisted of presentations and live demonstrations, aimed at instructing and familiarizing participants with the use of web and mobile platforms that will enable real-time public transportation information to be shared with the various stakeholders and service users.
These sessions provided insight into the needs, contexts, and challenges faced by different users when using and implementing mobility platforms, presenting various levels of integration based on the demographic profile of users and their involvement in the transportation network. The feedback received will lay the foundation for developing more integrated and advanced systems to serve the local transportation network.
We extend our gratitude to all the authorities present at these sessions, particularly to the representatives from the United Nations, the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics, and E-Governance, the Department of Transportation of the Government of Belize, the Corozal authorities, transportation operators, and passengers. Special thanks go to Taheerah Shadyah Usher for her excellent coordination in collaboration with the UNDP.

The Transit 501 app is now available for anyone traveling within Belize, and additional features will soon be added to enhance the travel experience for each passenger and significantly impact mobility and quality of life.
